What surprises will I find each week?
Aside from the stray ladybug (please bring them back, they are an invaluable part of our operation), you will experience a bit of joy as you bite into one of our sweetest Cherokee Purple tomatoes, your senses do a little dance as the fragrance of Italian basil wafts from your share, and your mind will find a bit of contentment knowing where your food comes from, who grew it, and how it was grown. When you arrive each portion you can choose will be labeled with its unit value.
The list below is not always available. Products are available seasonally and are dependent upon growing conditions.
Examples of units (this is not an exhaustive list, but is provided to give you an idea of what is typically available):
1 quart box of tomatoes = 1 unit
6 ears of corn = 1 unit
1 pint of blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, plums, or blueberries = 1 unit
1 pint of cherry tomatoes = 1 unit
1 pint of hot peppers = 1 unit
1 watermelon or cantaloupe = 1 or 2 units
2 to 5 lb of patty pan, yellow, or zucchini squash(depending on availability) = 1 unit
2 bunches of herbs = 1 unit
3 - 4 cucumbers = 1 unit
1 quart of apples, peaches, pears, or nectarines = 1 unit
10 white potatoes = 1 unit
3 - 4 sweet potatoes = 1 unit
4 to 8 bell peppers = 1 unit
1 large winter squash or 2 small winter squash = 1 unit
1 large or 2 small spaghetti squash = 1 unit
1 head of broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, or Brussels sprouts = 1 unit
1 bunch (1lb) of lettuce, chard, kale, mustard greens, spinach, or collards = 1 unit
1 loaf of bread = 2 units
1 dozen eggs = 1 unit
We would like to give you an idea of what to expect in a full share throughout the summer, but please keep in mind that these are just examples and are entirely subject to availability. For a 3/4 share, simply estimate approximately 3/4 of what you see below. Typically, a full share is 8 units, a 3/4 share is 6 units, and a 1/2 share is 4 units. Additionally, bread and eggs are available on alternating weeks (bread one week, eggs the next).
